Bio
I’m originally from Georgia and I was an art major at Virginia Intermont College. I have been a nanny for the past 17 years and art was always part of my working with children. We did art camps in the summers where we did paste papers, books and collage and we always did special projects during the holidays.
Describe your art/craft (medium, process, etc).
I’m a gelli printer and mixed media abstract artist. I use the papers I make to collage, make art journals and now I’m making paper earrings with my papers.
What drives you to make your art/craft?
When I started doing gelli printing about 10 years ago I feel like I finally found my medium. Before that I couldn’t do just one thing I kept looking for something I couldn’t find until I bought my first geli plate. Now I can’t stop! I use the papers I make to collage, make art journals and now I’m making paper earrings with my papers.
Who or what are your greatest influences?
Robyn McClendon, Susan McCrevy and Kit Bell are 3 gelli printers I really admire. I also love their collage work too.
How does living in Tennessee influence and inspire your art?
Having lived very close to the mountains and on 2 Tennessee State Historical Parks, I love the nature that surrounds me.
Beyond your art/craft, what are your other interests?
My 3 grandchildren fill my days and creating with them.
