Jack Loeb

Bio
I’m a retired art educator with over 37 years of experience teaching elementary through college art. I taught with the Department of Defense Schools in Germany for 22 years, and worked as an Arts and Crafts Director in the Azores. I have a large studio in McMinnville, TN and enjoy painting every day.

Describe your art/craft (medium, process, etc).
I love to experiment using paint. I love the feeling of paint, seeing a rich color spread under my brush and watching the shapes and colors coming together. It is always a big surprise and I enjoy sharing these ideas with others.

What drives you to make your art/craft?
The creative process is addictive and knowing that someone is moved by it.

Who or what are your greatest influences?
I love the Impressionists, the Abstractionists, and the painterly style of painting.

How does living in Tennessee influence and inspire your art?
The landscapes in Tennessee are wonderfully inspirational.

Beyond your art/craft, what are your other interests?
Great films are a delight to see. And, everyone has a good story to tell about themselves.

Anything else you want to share?
I recommend reading the book Your Brain on Art by Susan Magsamen and Ivy Ross. It's a good one.
