David Sharp
I’ve lived my whole life here in Smithville. I started taking woodcarving classes in 2006 and began teaching in 2009. Over the years, I’ve competed in some of the toughest judged competitions in the U.S., even going up against international carvers. I’ve taught woodcarving all across the country, though now I focus on teaching in my own studio. My work has also been featured in many magazines.
My craft is woodcarving. I primarily use basswood, butternut, and cedar to create realistic human busts, animals, relief carvings, and even fireplace mantels. I carve animals with power tools, while everything else is done by hand tools.
